For many years I had wrestled with the silence of God, expressing frustration over what seemed to be a one-sided relationship filled with atoning for my own faults responsible for that lack.
Disappointment is a good feeling for it. I haven't read the book, but read that the beginning disclaims: "True atheists, do not, I presume, feel disappointed in God. They expect nothing and receive nothing. But those who commit their lives to God, no matter what, instinctively expect something in return."
I disagree with the premise. I wrote somewhere here about my journey from Christianity to Atheism, and can confirm that, at least for me, disappointment was what undergirded every moment.
