We are a threat to democracy. We’re hindering it. If Democrats had their way, your elections would be federalized to ensure that every man has the individual right to vote. Individual, without political jackboots. Figuratively, of course. Because all that democracy requires is the belief that there is no boogeyman to jeopardize this utopia of free and fair elections with a sandman, while fascism in “constitutional republic” sheepskin becomes the truth of our civilization.
Beware of the romantic liberal. In many ways, you are like him. You preach what he lives, and this is, by your philosophy, noble; because it is everything you preach against. Everything: as your life’s work with every breathing day is to fight back against what you deem inappropriate. This attack feels all too familiar, doesn’t it, as it's the same casted judgment they are guilty of. But truth does not mean true when perception is reality.
Going back for a moment, of course this means that the right to vote is not an American construct; rights come from the cosmos—”No Human is Illegal.” Cosmopolitans are universalists, not really because their ideas are universally true, but because they know what it means to imperialize.
So who is really the romantic? Libertarians preach the sovereignty of the individual, the conservative of limited government, liberals the maximization of individual freedom. In one way, libertarians and conservatives advocate one side of the same coin: The individual can only be sovereign when a government is clearly not so. But libertarians advocate one side of two coins, and share with the liberals to legally give the individual the reign to do as he may please. The reactionary, i.e., the conservative, is reactionary because his job is to, de facto, impede, and in this way he battles both the libertarian and the liberal.
You, the conservative, are a fascist. A threat to democracy because you are standing alone and still on the precipice of history as your world moves ever closer to democracy’s natural conclusion: that mode of governance of which you are now called.
The “left” has not gone too far, despite what the unsatisfactory studies may tell us. The conveyor belt of life is moving ever forward (is this not social conservatism's diagnosis?) We are all in conversation with our time and truth is judged by the predominant sentiment of the people. The masses can never be wrong and so your efforts to strip them of their collective right to a popular vote makes you an enemy of the people, and this is unfascistic.
You might ask how the individual right to vote is compatible with the popular vote. How can the will of the collective people, bound up in fervor and pressure, not trample the rights of the greatest minority—the individual? Would it not be more practical to hold the “anachronistic” electoral college in higher favor, where localities, big or small, are given a voice of their own for their own? The answer is a resounding no.
The popular vote ensures that the will of the majority, who may more easily be swept up in collective effervescence, is secured. It is a general rule that the 49% must be stamped out by any available means necessary, for they will impose upon you what you shall impose upon them: do not fall asleep when you have power. The masses have elected you to execute their will.
Liberals are relativists insofar as they reject objectivity, a far cry from the enlightenment one might say, but not really. Because all of reality is constructed around our libido: to believe; to construct castles in the sky and replace one mysticism with another. In our world today, the individual is a shrine who determines who and what he and she and it is. It is your duty to convince them that it is this shrine you represent.
As a conservative, you do not reject the idea of objective values but forget your romantic forebears who posited that every time has its ideal. Recognize what it is, today. Your enemies have identified it and proceed to use it against you.
You fight against democracy but are called exactly what it concludes with. This is the only way you are a step ahead. But you are an enemy of the masses who believe that democracy will forever be on their side; to their leaders, you are merely a scapegoat.
My dear fascist, you hinder democracy but don’t see that it is inevitable. The institutions are waiting to do your bidding.
